St. Thomas Carnival 2022:A New Roogadoo for Carnival 2022
2 years ago the world shut down due to the ongoing pandemic. There was no way of expressing ourselves, letting go and having a good time. The USVI Division of Festivals announced earlier this year that Carnival will resume in St. Thomas as we celebrate the 70th Anniversary.

A Cultural Roogadoo for Carnival 2022 is the theme of this year's carnival. The festivities will begin with the food fair and roll on over into the evening for the village opening. Socalypso kicks off in the Fort Christian in Charlotte Amalie. Then the following day Jouvert morning will commence. This will be followed by Reggae Night at the Carnival Village. The week continues with Big Band Night, Children & Adults Parade will be combined into one this year. Carnival concludes with the Boat Show & Panorama.
My last time in St. Thomas was 2019, that was the last time we had anything carnival related before the pandemic hit in 2020. It will be a breath of fresh air to be back when it felt like we would never get back to the festivities. Different events have been occurring in St. Thomas but carnival officially begins from April 27-May 1. For those who are traveling to Rock City, safe travels and see you there.

J.G Management LLC 9th Annual VI Model of the Year Competition
When it comes to high fashion and putting on one of the most talked about fashion competitions, only one name comes to mind. That name is Jason Gardener of J.G. Management LLC. J.G. Management LLC is a full service company that offers training, development and placement for models. On Saturday 9, March 2022 J.G Management hosted their 9th Annual Model of the Year Competition. This year the event was held at the Botanical Garden Stx Great Hall. Attendees were greeted by J.G Management models Venessia B. & Kalonji who conducted a short interview with incoming guests. The first half of the show consists of the following categories Jeans, Swimwear, Tv Commercial, Couture Runway, Commercial/Fashion Print High Fashion. This year's competition was fierce, the competitors left it all on the stage. Each competitor had their own unique style and slayed the runway unfortunately in every division their could only be one winner. There were performances by the legendary Mada Nile & Photographer/Singer Irene Ali. Everything was properly planned and executed Jason, Breathless Occasions and everyone would made that evening a success deserves a round of applause. During the break attendees were able to purchase from the 3 vendors on sight, Zee Naturalee owned and operated by 19 year old Zarina, Queen Bosses Bling, & Alissa B. Custom Jewelry. There were door prizes and the moment that we've all been waiting the awards ceremony where the winners were announced.

Cruz Rock secures the hearts of viewers on the second week of ASC
International Recording artist Cruz Rock is currently participating on American Song Contest on NBC. During the second week of performances the artist performed his single Celebrando as a tribute to his Caribbean roots. He also incorporated a little of the mainland to connect with the American crowd. Cruz Rock was ranked in the top 12 fan favorites for the second week of performances. The artist has the entire Virgin Islands behind of him, alone with everyone that has toned in. Celebrando hit the top 100 charts while the artist was performing on Monday evening, before his performance they showed the viewers a little clip to showcase his background and help viewers learn more. It was truly amazing to have U.S Territories included in this song contest, because it shows viewers we have so much to offer. Mic Love When Ah Drunk Official Music Video Buddy Pass Riddim
Virgin Islands Ambassador Mic Love has recently released visuals to his single When Ah Drunk from the Buddy Pass Riddim. Produced By, Miguel Joseph Executive Producer International Stephen Mixed & Mastered By, Parry Jack. The music video currently ranks at 36,938 views as of 3 weeks ago. One of the things the artist is known for is his creativity while making a storyline to fit his music. The music video begins with a passed out Mic, being awaken by his girlfriend from a drunken slumber. After she exits the room he awakens. He's then shown in a support group circle where everyone is sharing how they arrived at this point. After the men share the story he then pulls out couple of bottles and begins to distribute it. After much hesitation the counselor which is played by International Virgin Islands Dj Benny D finally gives in. Mic Love finally returns home as a refreshed man, he goes into the refrigerator to grab the champagne for his lady and a bottle of water for himself. St. Croix St. Patrick's Day 2022
After 2 years of being confined by the pandemic, things seemed back to normal on the streets of Christiansted yesterday afternoon. The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade was held in Downtown Christiansted, it seems like everyone was seeing green. Attendees were overjoyed to once again be able to partake in the festivities whether they were apart of the parade or enjoying from the sidewalk. After the parade is was time to head to the boardwalk where the party continued at several bars.

The St. Croix Majorettes & Gentlemen of Jones were among the troupes participating in this year's parade. They gave the attendees hope for future public events in the territory. Seeing others enjoy the festivities and have some nice clean fun made the day worth it. The good time kept on rolling into the evening when clubs welcomed the public to party the night away. All in All it was a successful day, and gives hope for the future.

Creative Corner: Featuring Vivid Streaming Owner Rashidi Clenance
Rashidi Clenance, Owner of Vivid Streaming, Head of The Tim Duncan Foundation in the VI, & Owner of popular Sports Bar on the island of St. Thomas Win Mill 2.0. The latest feature on Creatives Corner. Rashidi grew up on the island of St. Croix U.S.V.I, where he attended and graduated from the St. Joseph High School. He then furthered his studies at Vincennes University. Rashidi has always had a passion for sports, although it didn't turn out exactly how he'd intended. He participated in various sports. However that didn't stop him from getting involved in the community. As the founder of Sun Stroke Promotions his goal was to showcase the best high school basketball players in the U.S. & British Virgin Islands. This would give them the opportunity to earn sponsorships to further their education. The Virgin Islands Icon has dedicated his life to showcasing the talents of the Virgin Islands both local and in the mainland. Mr. Clenance began his journey with the Avis & Daily News writing sports, he then took his talents to the radio airways. Does anyone remember his popular morning show on Virgin Islands radio station Isle 95 "Rash in the Morning." I remember being dropped of to school in the mornings and being entertained by him on the radio during the car ride.

Rashidi's radio days at Isle 95 would soon be numbered. When it was brought up that the artists of the Virgin Islands shouldn't have to pay to receive an interview or have their songs promoted. Shortly after he decided his time at the radio station had come to an end. He then relocated to St. Thomas U.S.V.I. where he would soon be on the airwaves once more at 103.5, but trouble would once again follow the legend due to him always speaking his mind.

Rashidi moved on to opening his own sports bar in FrenchTown, St. Thomas U.S.V.I where he displays autographed jerseys, baseballs, bats, from professional and college players such as the now retired Tim Duncan. Aaliyah Boston was recently featured on ESPN with sportscaster Holly Rowe where Win Mill 2.0 honored her with a Jersey from her High School Basketball playing days. She's one of the most decorated high school basketball player in Virgin Islands history. Several businesses were affected during the pandemic and that includes the Win Mill. Rashidi along with his partner decided to make the executive decision to shut down the business for the time being. The business has since reopened and is fully operational.

Vivid Streaming is an online radio station with studios in both St. Thomas & St. Croix U.S.V.I. Rashidi has the freedom to operate his station as he sees fit. It has become a fast growing online radio station that promotes Virgin Islanders. According to the owner they're plans of expanding the station to music capital for Virgin Islanders "Atlanta." Vivid Streaming has given back to the community in many ways, over the Christmas break hosted a toy drive. They gave away free toys to the children of the community who were eager to receive these gifts. The media icon has opened up the airways to a new generation of hosts eager to show the world what they have to offer. Rash kicks off the Vivid Streaming show in the morning with The MaDD House, followed by Project 3,2,1 with hosts Chris, Sealey & Neka Neeks where they discuss the hottest topics and pose as a voice to millennials.
Rashidi has friends in high places as he's been apart of the community for many years partaking in various things. Among those friends, is NBA superstar Tim Duncan, Tim & Rashidi have been friends for many years. The now retired ball player has entrusted his good friend in being the head of his foundation right here in the Virgin Islands. Rash admitted it has not been easy, but he takes his role very seriously. Tim Duncan is currently working with Aliyah Boston, and there's alot to be made about it, when it comes down to it she's not the only Virgin Islander he's worked with. He's the facilitator and organizes things with the belief that things will always work out. Although the two are long time friends they have a mutual respect for one another.
In closing I would just like to say Rashidi Clenance has paved the way for various media and radio personalities who are trying to make a difference in the community today. We all have one common goal and that's to shine a positive light on the Virgin Islands. Serving as one of my many inspirations into why I created my platform, I'm very honored to have gotten the opportunity to share his story.

J.G. Management LLC Kid's Rock Fashion Weekend U.S.V.I.
.G. Management LLC U.S.V.I. has reached a milestone, the modeling agency is celebrating their 10th year anniversary. The Kid's Rock Fashion Show Weekend kicked of with their annual Pink & Blue Party where models, parents of models, and other attendees showed of their best attire. The evening consisted of games which were rewarded with prizes, a modeling segment where the kids displayed their best fits, and eventually the adults joined in on the fun and modeled their fits as well. The second half of the weekend comprised of the Kid's Rock Show. The show began promptly at 3pm, because if anyone knows Jason Gardener he doesn't tolerate tardiness. Fashions from Kmart Sunny Isles on St. Croix, Rainbow Kids Sunny isles St. Croix, along with Guava Berry Clothing were presented by the young models. Later on in the show the 2022 VI Model of the Year competitors were presented. Prizes were won after the winners were announced during an intermission. The Young models put on a production inspired by the popular Netflix show Bridgerton which was well received by the audience. Before the end of the show, Jason was presented with a token of appreciation from the parents for all the years of dedication to their children. Before the finale the IRock Award was presented to the following recipients Tyana Hassell, Alea'Jah Creque, Maleigha Bannis, & Rzyra Denbow. The winners received their flowers along with a plaque as an appreciation of their many years of contribution to their program. The models did their final walk through as part of the finale, after that the show was officially concluded.

Cruz Rock set to perform at the American Song Contest
Latin Caribbean Singer, Songwriter, and Producer Cruz Rock is set to compete in the American version of Eurovision. Eurovision is an international songwriting competition specifically designed for European Countries. This version however is designed for an American audience. The American Song Contest Premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. 56 artists, representing each state, or U.S. Territory will perform an original song. They contestants will be presented will 3 categories Qualifying Rounds, Semi Finals, and Grand Finals, the last performer standing will receive the title of Best Original Song during the finale. American Rapper Snoop Dogg, & American Singer-Songwriter are set to host the show.

10th Annual Kids Rock Fashion Show Weekend 2022
The 10th Annual Kids Rock weekend kicks on Saturday 5th March,2022. The first half of the weekend is the Pink & Blue party where the models show of their best blue and pink attires, walk the blue and pink carpet, take pictures along with their participation in a fashion show. Sunday's activities include a 2 part show where 24 models strut the Runway in fashions by Kmart, Rainbow,and Guava Berry Kids Clothing. 4 models will be honored with the IRock award based on their school performance, participation in at 3 Kids Rock Fashion shows not to mention their stage presence. The winners are as followed Tyana Hassell, Maleigha Bannis, Alea'Jah Creque, and Rzyra Benbow. This year's contestants will also be presented during Sunday's show. The second half of the show will feature fashions inspired by the hit Netflix show Bridgerton.

Mayah V "Easy On Me"
Singer Mayah V, who is managed by T40 Studio owner Bulley Navarro has recently released her first official single cover to Adele's Easy On Me. Easy on Me was produced by Virgin Islands Superstar who can literally do it all A.J. Ventura. Mayah's version of Easy On Me is a little different than the original, it has a taste of reggae thrown into the mix along with her extraordinary vocals. A.J. Ventura throwing the piano into the mix was absolute genius and we expect nothing less from this musical genius. Mayah V is already a force to be reckoned with and there is no stopping her. Bulley Navarro who also manages superstar Virgin Islands Kruziano always pushes his artist to be the best in the game. Creatives Corner : Aliyah Boston
Aliyah Boston, who is a native of St. Thomas U.S.V.I is an American College Basketball player for the South Carolina Gamecocks of the University of South Carolina. Aliyah was born on December 11, 2001 to Cleone & Algernon Boston. At the age of 12, she moved to Massachusetts with her sister to live with their aunt Jenaire Hodge. In 2020 she became a recipient of the Lisa Leslie Award & USBWA National Freshman of the year. The young basketball star began playing at the tender age of 9, while looking up to her older sister who played the game. Her inspiration for the game came from professional basketball player Candance Parker in which she idolizes. Aliyah Boston attended a private school in Worcester called Worcester Academy. Some of her achievement thus far are Gatorade State Player of the Year (2017, 2018, & 2019). She has 4 gold medals in total, 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2018 Youth Olympic Games, 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship. In her debut game, Boston’s stats looked like this: 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks in the Gamecocks’ 103-43 rout of Alabama State. Aliyah recently set the SEC record with 20 consecutive double-doubles. The young basketball star was recently featured on ESPN features and highlights with Sportscaster Holly Lowe, where she took them around the island of St. Thomas showing off where she enjoyed playing the game, along with a walk on the beach. There even sat down for an interview with her parents. She also special honor by owner of the very successful sports by Win Mill 2.0 Rashidi Clarance where he displayed her jersey from her high school basketball days.

Virgin Islands History Month & Women History Month are 2 very significant moments in history that needs to be recognized & celebrated. Women History Month was designed to reflect on the courage of women in past generations and the efforts and bravery which earned women the opportunities and freedom we have today. Virgin Islands History Month was established in 2006, every year during the month of March, where we recognize the extraordinary history and culture of our Virgin Islands and the achievements and contributions of its people. Singer, Song Writer & Grammy nominated engineer. Leo Sibilly III who goes by his stage name Th3rd, was born and raised in the beautiful sister island of St. Thomas U.S.V.I. Th3rd has recently signed on to Timothy Thomas record label Quietly Making Noise. On Valentine's Day, Th3rd released visuals to his latest single Best Things. In the beginning of the music video it shows a clip which can also be seen at the end of the video. The artist gets shot in the back after getting into a heated altercation with his love interest. At first everything is all kisses and smiles, smiles by the camp fire and secret hand shakes. After witnessing something from his cell, she becomes enraged. An argument erupts causing them to pull over exiting the car. He tries to explain himself, she pushes him away then slaps him. Seeing that their isn't any explanation he can give to defend himself he proceeds to walk away. However he doesn't make it to far before she pulls out a fire arm and shoots him in the back. Love and happiness are 2 things money can't buy , but be very careful who you hurt in the process. Best Things is now out and streaming on digital streaming platforms.
