St. Thomas Carnival 2022:A New Roogadoo for Carnival 2022

2 years ago the world shut down due to the ongoing pandemic. There was no way of expressing ourselves, letting go and having a good time. The USVI Division of Festivals announced earlier this year that Carnival will resume in St. Thomas as we celebrate the 70th Anniversary.

A Cultural Roogadoo for Carnival 2022 is the theme of this year's carnival. The festivities will begin with the food fair and roll on over into the evening for the village opening. Socalypso kicks off in the Fort Christian in Charlotte Amalie. Then the following day Jouvert morning will commence. This will be followed by Reggae Night at the Carnival Village. The week continues with Big Band Night, Children & Adults Parade will be combined into one this year. Carnival concludes with the Boat Show & Panorama.

My last time in St. Thomas was 2019, that was the last time we had anything carnival related before the pandemic hit in 2020. It will be a breath of fresh air to be back when it felt like we would never get back to the festivities. Different events have been occurring in St. Thomas but carnival officially begins from April 27-May 1. For those who are traveling to Rock City, safe travels and see you there.
