Featured: Pollo's Bass Covers Live
Pollo Goodings, Owner of local clothing brand Apollo Legion and Bass Man of popular band "Big Band," has recently began doing live covers of the latest and greatest music ever created. This journey first began at Levels in downtown Christiansted during an art walk event. Pollo then continued at other local venues such as Common Sense and Lost Dog Pub. According to the musician as a Bass Man in a popular local band he's never at the front line of the performances. This solo performance is a different experience for him, he's centerstage doing what he loves and all eyes are on him. With each performance under his belt Pollo grows more comfortable with his audience both virtually and in person. For those who haven't seen Pollo's live or in person performances of various covers, you can catch a performance on May 7th at Lost Dog Pub on King Street in Frederiksted town from 8pm-11pm. See You There.

On Friday, will be the exclusive Meet & Greet party, and also the buyer's presentation that evening. At the Red Party the models will introduce themselves and do a mini fashion show, this way the agents in attendance will receive a taste of what's to come at the competition on Saturday. At the Buyer's presentation local boutiques will receive a chance to be apart of it. They will be showcasing their fashions. The idea of this is for the local boutiques and the designers to see how they can work together. The local boutiques will showcase their pieces in hopes of the designers getting some of their pieces into their stores. The Red party will introduce the contestants to the judges before the competition on Saturday. In attendance and also performing live that evening will be singer Gyasi Clarke.

Finally on the day of the competition, the models begin with a one on one the morning of the competition. This is the opportunity for them to shine and be themselves, it's actually the most important part of the competition. The agents need to get a feel of who they are, to know about them, and most importantly to see how well they handle themselves during a casting. At the end, if they end up being signed, they will have to go on casting calls etc to book jobs. The evening of the show, will begin at 4pm with the Styling Beauty Expo. This year it has been downsized to just 4 local vendors who will be selling their products. The show begins at 6p.m. sharp, with the competition being the first half of the show. The second half of the show will be for the Style Week Designers. The show will conclude with the Awards presentation. Although we're currently in the middle of a pandemic, it's by the grace of God that JG Management was able to pull of the 8th Annual VI Model of the Year Competition. The venue, designers and agents were cutback, but besides that its still business as usual and will still be quality. There are 3 divisions, the Child Division which consists of 5 models, and the Commercial Model & Fashion Model Division which consists of 2 models each. Reggae artist Tia will be in attendance and performing live.

The Models have been working extremely hard, this is a process that began from last November, because the audition begins at that time. Then it's followed by the orientation in December and the workshops in January. As part of the prize for winning the competition, they'll be travelling to New York. In terms of the good feedback and possible representation offers the agent being interested and wanted to sign the models. The VI Model of the Year Competition will be held April 10, 2021 at Le Jolie Events & Rentals 6p.m sharp. The week concludes with the All White Style Brunch, which will be a first for JG. The main show was always on a Sunday but with cutbacks that were made, and the pandemic, the show and the expo are now being held on Saturday. Therefore Sunday became free thus creating the White Style Brunch.

New Artists: Deja Adams
We would like to introduce you to another new artist Deja Adams. Moon music takes you to a whole different galaxy. You can only get there when SpaceAeDej is is in the air waves. Between the infectious hooks and happy go lucky heartbroken melodies, there’s no way you can’t sing along. Her love for music and and the moon has been fostered from the tender age of 7 when she began playing piano and writing songs for neighborhood friends and classmates. Then it turned to messing around with Garage band one day and making a remix to J. Cole’s “Power Trip” that friends and random people, who are currently fans, came to like. To date, she has local classics like “Sunset Blvd.” and “Walk”. Stream this moon walker where ever you enjoy listening music and take a trip to the moon! It first began with her dad showing her a few songs on the piano when she was about 6, since then she has always lived in a music world. Her dad is a huge influence on her music because of his in depth knowledge of it. Of course some of her other popular influences would be lil uzi vert, juice wrld and majority of 90s-20’s rnb, collectively all of those influences make her feel nostalgic and that's when she feel the happiest.

New Releases: Pressure Busspipe releases Blazer/Faker days apart
International Reggae Artist Pressure Busspipe has just released back to back music videos to his songs "Faker" and "Blaze.
In the first Music video shown above Pressure appears to be in his home Island of St. Thomas U.S.V.I. Pressure Busspipe has never been a stranger to expressing himself through his music, this one is no different. He quotes he wouldn't have gotten anywhere in life if the fake people who played a role in his life had anything to do with it. Don't be scared to rid yourself of anyone in your life that's exposed as a faker. They will claim someone spoke ill of you, when they did as well and never defended your name. "Faker" relates to so many real life situations between friends and acquaintances.
The second project released by the artist dives deeper, into police brutality and the killings it relates to in the mainland. Black People are constantly targeted, racial profiled, and ultimately killed by police officers in many states in the mainland. Pressure highlights some of the black community who lost their lives due to police brutality. Even though the city is on fire, we as black people are still fighters. "Pour gas inna wicked man place." When will the love ones of the victims lost to police brutality receive closure, is it ever going to end? Light a candle, or raise a lighter for those who've lost their life to useless violence. This song touches deep, everyday the new outlets highlights the killings, but in most cases the perpetrators gets off scot free.

WIBVICC: Pop-Up Shopping Festival Review
Earlier today the Women in Business VI/Caribbean Chapter hosted their very first Empow(HER) Pop Up Shopping Festival. There we were introduced to some well known businesses on island and even those we weren't as familiar with. We visit up to 17 or more booth at the agricultural fair grounds. Each booth offered insight on their products and just what they had to offer the community. It was very empowering to witness so many strong women being their own boss. The booths contained items such as local hand made jewelry, local pastries, local drinks, paintings, Transpersonal energy healing, insurance, local clothing brands, Med Evac air Ambulance, an embroidery company and so much more. Today was an incredible experience and as a woman in business myself I greatly appreciated the Women in Business Chapter for organizing something like this. The many owners of the businesses we interviewed today also appreciated the opportunity to have their businesses on full display for the public to see. Women History Month is coming to an end and what a better way to end the month then with a pop up shopping festival to empower women in business.

New Artist Alert: Meet Big E
Its been a minute since we introduced a new artist to the public. Meet Big E, Big E was born on the beautiful and tropical island of Dominica. At just the age of 8, he began his journey as a trumpet player under the guidance of his instructor at the time Mr. Eddy Henry. He later migrated to St. Croix U.S.V.I where he continued studying music with the guidance of then music teacher and now principal Mr. Mario Thomas at the John. H. Woodson Jr High School. Big E elevated to the next level under the directive of Mr. Stanford Joines at the Central High School. It was there the artist realized his true potential to make a career out of music. He tried his hand in writing and a little bit of singing but didn't take it as seriously as he took playing the trumpet. In 2010 he received his acceptance to Berklee College of music in Boston. Unfortunately he didn't get to attend as a student there. After graduating from high school he began playing and recording with some well known bands from the different islands and a few international artists. Bands and artists such as WCK, Swinging Starz, (African) Atta Buafo, Canve Adams, etc. He performed on big stages such as the World Creole Music Festival in 2012 and Creole and Jazz 2012 in Dominica. The music never seemed to stop but did slow down drastically. Big E began playing smaller gigs at 2 + 2 restaurant along with other venues, because he refused to give up on music. However in 2020 he decided to take his music to the next level with the assistance of his producer and engineer the talented Mr. Prez. Big E producer encouraged him to bring his voice to life. This further motivated him to bring to life songs in which he began developing in high school while incorporating life experiences in the present time. Big E has since evolved into an artist that plays and sing at times and can do both on stage. His first two singles are out now on all streaming platforms, and the 6 song ep Hard Times will be released very soon. Music means the world to this artist, everywhere in life there is music. In the steps you make, in the things you see and in all you do. Big E's main goal when it comes to music is to reach the heart of at least one person. Just to have them feel the emotion and direction of the song and take them on a journey. Currently he's working on a 12 song album and very first music video. In the next 5 years the artist sees himself still doing music that reaches the hearts of fans. While contributing to the growing music industry in the Virgin Islands.
