Crucian Culture Group "A Glow in Deh Park"

This month of December is a time in which we celebrate the holiday season and festival season. It's a time where the people of the Virgin Islands come together as a community. As the Christmas season quickly approaches and we face yet another year without celebrating the festival season. We find alternative ways to keep the culture and the tradition alive. The Crucian Cultural Group hosted a Glow in Deh Park, light Dem up festival of trees. The event was of course streamed virtually via local broadcast program WTJX Channel 12 along with participating streaming platforms. Covid-19 guidelines were of course enforced as the attendees enjoyed an evening in which showcased our culture and what it really means to be a Virgin Islander.

Participants such as Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights, We Deh Yah Cultural Dance Company, Ay Ay Cultural Dance Company Inc, Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies, Sacha Alexander & The Golden Voices Choir. Story telling by Asherray Crump Morris, Gentlemen of Jones Choir and more graced the streets of Christiansted. Various local businesses participated in the festivities this evening making the night unforgettable. The lighting of the trees was the icing on the cake. We would like to thank Chalana Brown for inviting us to this wonderful and well executed ev. As we all know we've been faced with a pandemic, and things won't be going back to the way they were for a very long time. This was an amazing change of pace to leave all of our troubles behind. History and Culture play a major role in the Virgin Islands. What was presented to us at the Glow in Deh Park embodies it all.
