St. Thomas Carnival Experience 23'
Post easter, St. Thomas U.S.V.I celebrated their Carnival Season which began on April 8, and concluded on April 30, 2023. Despite an unfortunate event which occurred at the end of Carnival, the entire season was exceptional. The King of Soca himself Machel Montano literally had his own version of Machel Mondays at the Carnival Village the very first night. Along with great performances by local bands and artists. The remaining days had performances by R.City, Shenessa, Romain Virgo, Asa Bantan, Jocelyne Béroard from the famous French band Kassav, V.I.B.E, The Pupa Kelly Tribute Band, Jam Band, Spectrum Band, Blind Earz who posed as the band for acts such as BugZ Bugs, Monea, Adam O, Mic Love. Other performances by KarNage, Express Band, Shaw Hp & Pascal, Frank Reyes, PUMPA, Cool Session, Dezarie, King Lion, Klimaxx Band, Lyrikal, Bunji & FayAnn. We arrived on St. Thomas on Wednesday, where we dove right into the Food Fair. Everything was top tier leading up to the Adult's Parade. The world of Carnival and getting to share the culture with people from all over the world is such a wonderful thing. We ran into some folks from Trinidad, Jamaica, the mainland and many more. They all shared their excitement for the Carnival season and how happy they were to be there. Superstars were on the streets of Charlotte Amalie enjoying the Adult's Parade and admiring the beautiful women and costumes. If you haven't visited the Virgin Islands to party with us then we'll give you 3 reasons to fete. St. Thomas Carnival takes place in April, followed by St. John Celebration the ending of June into the beginning of July followed by the Crucian Christmas Festival from December-January. I cannot put into words how amazing this carnival experience has been. Hoping to be back next year if God's willing where we'll be bigger and better. Collaborating with the very talented Reemy- Reemz Photography which also happens to be my husband was perfect match. Carnival has definitely been good to us besides a few aches, and sunburn, but it's all part of the job until next year. Same Time, Same Place.
