Heart of the Block: A Tribute to Jordan "Dutty Heart" Jones

Yellow Cedar Media hosted Heart of the Block, A tribute dedicated to the late Jordan "Dutty Heart" Jones. This was a free event, but carried a deep significance. News of Jordan's untimely passing sent shockwaves throughout Virgin Islanders near and far. This incredible event was hosted by Virgin Islands very own It Girl Ms. Janeisha John & the CEO of Yellow Cedar Media's Jed JohnHope. The venue near the Carvelle Hotel & Casino the entire setup was perfectly staged. Attendees enjoyed live performances by Kaieem the Dream, Gyasi Clarke, Ras Attitude, SupaTrakz Intl, Lips Intl, De Apostle, DJ Cypha, Dj Slik, Hunter, Prya, Mr. Easy, Cruz Rock, Pressure, Leon & the Peoples. Fun fact: Mr. Leon Robinson, lead singer of Leon & The Peoples is a well-known actor best known in for his roles in movies such as Cool Runnings, the 1993 movie about four Jamaican bob sleighers dreaming of competing in the winter Olympics. The Five Heart Beats and even portrayed David Ruffin a famous soul singer and one of the lead of The Temptations he delivered the now very infamous line "Ain't nobody come to see you Otis." Finally one of the most legendary reggae artist out of Jamaica Gyptian. Despite the fun surrounded by the night's festivities we have to remember why we were gathered the Christiansted Boardwalk on August 9. Gun violence in the community has become unbearable and very common. We should never be okay with that level of violence. Hopefully this event sends a clear message, the guns need to be put down and end this vicious cycle. Jordan was a pillar in this community he impacted the entire VI entertainment industry. There was food & Drink vendors present to satisfy the event-goers needs as the evening progressed. Apart from slight showers of blessings. The evening was an overall success. Hopefully this is one in many ways we can begin to healing as a community. While continuing to fight against senseless crimes. Attendees described the rain as Jordan crying tears of joy to see such an outstanding tribute. Once that happens hopefully we can begin to heal as a territory. This event wouldn't have been possible without Mr. Jed John Hope, his phenomenal team, and the sponsors.
