CoVid Era:How are Musicians&Artists surviving right now
We have been terrorized by Covid-19 for over 7 months now, and somehow have adjusted to life during this pandemic. Although it has been a tough transition for most, others have come to terms with our current situation. Musicians, Artists, Promoters, Club Owners, Djs etc have made a living booking live performances, touring and providing that feel good music we all enjoy. However the pandemic has put a damper on everything that gives an artist their identity. This past April St. Thomas Carnival along with several other Carnivals in the Caribbean has been cancelled or postponed. Artists are hosting performances live on their social media to keep their fans spirits alive. Everyone is working on putting out new content and creating out of the box ideas, however we are curious about how our artists are surviving. Many of our Virgin Islands artists have families, so if they're not touring or performing at various functions how exactly are they getting by during these difficult times? A few artists are only doing music part time, while for others its a full time job. We're kind of aware of what some of our local artists are currently up to, but for the ones in the mainland we're just wondering how are they keeping up with our current situation we've been faced with. Club owners, promoters, musicians, producers are faced with the same dilemma, this pandemic has put a dent in their way of a live. You go from doing something everyday or every week to reminiscing what was. Honestly we're all ready for this nightmare to be put to be rest and get back to the good times.
