Raising Mental Health Awareness with Shanice Tricoche
Shanice also known as Shan, was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but was raised in Christiansted, St. Croix since she was just six months old. Currently she's a Clinic Mental Health Therapist, Blogger, and Educator with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern CT State University. She's pursuing a Doctoral Health Sciences (DHSc) degree at the University of New Haven. In her passionate pursuit of raising awareness and normalizing discussions on Mental health within the St. Croix community, she created Bloomspeakingofsunflower. It's a safe and welcoming space for the Caribbean community, and individuals seeking mental health resources. Her focus is on prioritizing mental health and community healing to empower and uplift those in need. Following the launch of her blogging site, a multitude of mental health content creators from different parts of the world began to reach out and connect with her through various social media platforms. This influx of engagement and interest served as a testament to the impact and relevance of her content in the mental health community. She advocates passionately for mental health in both Connecticut and St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Shanice utilizes her creativity to give back to the community. She advocates for various community projects and mental health initiatives like The Empowerment Garden Series, which features seminars on psychological topics. Her philosophy emphasizes creativity, cultural sensitivity, and togetherness. She believes inclusivity and community effort create a safe and supportive space for individuals to find themselves, tap into their inner strength, and begin healing. She uses passion and empathy to create a space where individuals feel seen, heard, and understood while honoring unique experiences and perspectives. Her efforts have culminated into the publication of a therapeutic book entitled "The Self-Service Room: Trees Are Still Called Trees in Every Season," which aims to encourage readers to appreciate themselves and prioritize their mental well-being. This book is a testament to Shanice's passion and commitment to promoting mental health and creating a supportive community for all. To further spread community mental health awareness, she launched The Liberation Dome, LLC, a networking platform for discussing mental health and wellness in a safe space for team leaders and communities. The Liberation Dome, LLC is where individuals can prioritize their mental health while receiving warm, cohesive support. The approach taken within this network is comprehensive and aims to ensure that community visitors and leaders feel embraced and supported throughout their journey toward better mental health. Beyong business and community oriented adventures, Shanice enjoys nature, aquatic life, spending time with loved ones, working out, and solo travel. She finds comfort in St. Croix’s local cuisines, as it reminds her of her upbringing and cultural values. Shanice is a person who values her mental and emotional well-being. To recharge herself, she seeks out peaceful and serene environments where she can reflect on her thoughts, feelings, and experiences. By doing so, she is able to find inner peace and tranquility, which enables her to give back to her community in a meaningful and impactful way. Shanice’s commitment to self-care and community service is truly inspiring, and serves as a reminder of the importance of taking care of oneself in order to better serve others.
